List of States That Ban Marijuana Vaping

The marijuana vaping ban has been felt across the United States and many states have reacted to protect public safety. In fact, the governor of California urged the state to launch a $20 million public awareness campaign for both tobacco and cannabis vaping products.

In this article, we’ll share the states that currently have a cannabis vaping ban, and states that have tobacco vaping bans.

States with a cannabis vaping ban

  • Washington State: On October 9th, 2019 Washington health regulators voted to ban the sale of flavored tobacco and marijuana vaporizers
  • Massachusetts: On September 24th, 2019 Massachusetts instilled its vaping product ban which will end on January 25th, 2020.
  • Oregon: On October 11th, 2019 Oregon became the third state to instill a temporary ban on marijuana vaporizers. The products will be suspended for 6 months.

In addition, Colorado Marijuana Enforcement held a public hearing to discuss its course of action on whether they will ban vaping products statewide. It appears that Colorado has taken a different course of action and is focusing on banning specific substances found in vape cartridges that are causing respiratory illnesses.

“I think this is a very dynamic and innovative industry. It’s moving very quickly,” said Shannon Gray, the marijuana communications specialist for the Marijuana Enforcement Division. “We as regulators are always trying to stay ahead of the innovation and put rules in place that protect public health and safety but don’t diminish what this innovative and overwhelmingly responsible industry is trying to do.”
