MedMen is looking for a Director, New Product Development.In an evolving and dynamic market, with new generations of consumers demonstrating less brand loyalty and greater propensity to explore and try new things, new product development and creativity will not only protect current market share but position MedMen to succeed in continuing to grow revenue streams and market share.
Leads all cross functional teams on MedMen cannabis products including: product innovation & commercialization, go to market strategy, packaging strategy & visual merchandising.
New Products: Research and identify opportunities for new products, develop and present innovation strategies to executive leadership, and lead the planning and development of new products
Industry Trends: Develop a deep and knowledge and understanding of cannabis industry trends –apply that knowledge towards product development and planning
Collaborative Project Management: Work with both internal and external teams (such as marketing and compliance) to provide detailed briefs to the executive leadership team with clear product development targets and timelines, as well as ensuring timelines are met from concept to launch.
Build and implement product strategies that are consistent with the corporate vision and collaborate with executive leadership to create product plans and roadmaps
Controls: Understanding that product consistency at the consumer level is critical, establish rigorous specification standards for new products and ensuring appropriate controls are in place to deliver those standards to the consumer marketplace.
Ensure all product plans and strategies comply with all state regulations around product creation, formation, packaging, and delivery.
Retrieve and analyze feedback from consumers, stakeholders, and other teams to shape new products, and new product launches as well as becoming the company expert on product categories and competitors.
Review and report on market trends and new product opportunities
Work closely with Marketing, Digital, Merchandising, Retail and Supply Chain to design execution plans that are aligned to support desired on shelf deadlines
7+ years of new product development experience within consumer packaged goods, agriculture, chemicals, beauty, health and wellness or pharmaceuticals
BS in business or related field; MBA a plus
Strong analytical and project management skills; ability to anticipate and proactively arrive at viable solutions
Excellent project management, time management, organizational, and communication skills
Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
Ability to work and influence a variety of groups, internal and external
Working knowledge of various product development techniques and processes
Experience leading internal and external teams to successfully launch new CPG products, and the ability to clearly communicate and influence at senior leadership levels, as well as with project teams
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. Evening and weekend work is required as job duties demand.
This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time.
