About the Role
This individual will be responsible for the management of In-House Custom Production and Direct Print. The key objectives are to manage multiple production sites and team members, develop employees, execute training plans for proper maintenance and training on label machines, and to ensure that all responsible production sites are meeting KPIs to track performance and meet customer requirements on time in order to leverage best practices across the network.
What you will do (Essential Functions)
Project Scheduling: Plan production schedule to meet customer priorities requirements
Employee Relations: Defuse all HR and employee matters by partnering up with the respective internal stakeholders and outside agencies
Problem Solving: Understand and mitigate problems to optimize department efficiency
Cross-functional collaboration, and communication to quickly understand and resolve issues
Flexible/Adaptable to change to meet the business need
Developing Staff to adhere to the following: safety, quality, productivity and delivery
Customer focused: An advocate to the team to be Customer Centric with a sense of urgency
Provide direction to site supervisors on the day-to-day operations and resolve all employee matters in a timely manner.
Establish and collect production KPI’s, productivity standards, and capacity of all responsible sites.
Monitor employee performance and provide feedback to the team on areas to improve and commend those requiring recognition.
Provide weekly production KPI reports on all responsible sites to Director of Production
Execute weekly inventory cycle counts of production locations to maintain inventory accuracy of 99.5% or better
Maintain team productivity of 98% or better for responsible region
Maintain quality control of 98% or better for responsible region
Train employees to flex into all functions and types of applications within the department
Maintain a teamwork environment to respect others within the workplace
Monitor all associates attendance records and HR issues to defuse immediately and partnering with appropriate stakeholders to mitigate through these matters accordingly
Maintain the department production schedule to provide adequate customer expectations
Collaborate with Director of Production to ensure that all processes and procedures are consistent with department goals
Identify areas to improve and drive a visual organizational workplace environment by utilizing the 5S method
Identify any safety risk and take preventive measures on near misses and/or injuries
Report all quality matters and have proper communication to the team on corrective actions
Utilize Lean methods to simplify processes, eliminate waste/non-value adding activities and improve workflow
Maintain proper work instructions and provide communication on current and future changes to the process
Maintain proper preventative maintenance and process control plan for all machine applicators and direct printing
Manage training requirements to ensure optimal efficiency of the operation
Prioritize Production Schedule based on Customer requirements
Track any new department initiatives to meet expected target deadlines
Who you are (Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization – English, Spanish is a plus
5 years of relevant work experience in Production, Manufacturing and/or Direct Print/Label application operations
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Proven ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people & functions
Confidence, presence, and credibility to command the production team meet department initiatives
Adaptable / Flexible – being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances
Knowledge of methods and tools to improve performance and productivity with an understanding such as 6 Sigma, Lean (Kaizens, Workouts, 5S, Process Mapping), Inventory Control, Quality Control, Vendor Management Inventory
Knowledge of managing machines and people in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of team value and employee engagement to motivate and drive change
Organizational skills, with ability to manage competing priorities
Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS-Project skills
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and operating a computer workstation
Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50 pounds
