Director, Project Management

With rapid growth in both retail and cultivation businesses (our products from seed to sale in our dispensaries and dispensaries owned by other companies), Grassroots seeks an experienced Director, Project Management to build a project management practice within the Marketing department at Grassroots. This crucial role will be dropped into a rapidly growing business, in a rapidly evolving category, and will need to assume immediate stewardship of multiple cross-functional initiatives. Part coach, part change manager, all leader, this individual is expected to establish a practice and processes for project management while optimizing and aligning ongoing initiatives with timelines and budgets.
This individual must be levelheaded and capable of leading work from a technical, strategic and an operational viewpoint. Promoting teamwork, delegating tasks, resolving conflicts, setting goals, and evaluating performance, this individual has a keen ability to negotiate resources, budgets, schedules and scope creep.
This role sits within the Marketing Department and reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.
Develop a Project Management practice within the Grassroots marketing team
Implement processes and methodologies for Project Management including the incorporation of agile and other evolving methodologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure projects are aligned with business goals, organizational strategy and prioritized appropriately.
Ensure creative projects are appropriately scoped, planned, and managed from concept through production to completion.
Monitor and support day-to-day operations around projects by providing insights to portfolio risks and issues, resource planning and serving as initial escalation point.
Collaborate with business and technology partners across the enterprise to ensure coordination of methodology, practices, and artifacts throughout the project life cycle and drive improved communication and education of business and technical partners as cross-functional processes are enhanced.
Ensure deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of project performance monitoring and control capabilities via variance reporting, issues management, and change control.
Hire, train and manage Project Managers
6-10 years of experience with the execution of large-scale concurrent projects; demonstrated success at project management and business analysis in the execution of concurrent projects.
3-5 years of experience working with creatives (copywriters and designers), ideally within a creative agency.
Working knowledge of project management and business analysis principles, such as those defined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK), and with various Agile methodologies.
Experience in lead generation, brand, and retail advertising.
Experience working with external vendors, partners, agencies and skilled in developing scopes of work, fee structures, and managing contracts
PMP Certification preferred
Experience in FMCG, digital products, and retail businesses.
Natural collaboration skills and service orientation
Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with individuals and groups to effective listening skills.
Excellent judgment in applying various communication or collaboration techniques, based on situation and/or audience.
Strong ability to champion change; influential and able to gain acceptance on new approaches, processes, or standards.
Candidate must be a self-starter, flexible to work in a collaborative structure and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
