This newly created role will report to the Director of Product and Packaging Innovation. The Demand Planner is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the demand planning process that reflects Grassroots Cannabis strategic initiatives along with also supporting the continuous monthly planning and S&OP Process.
Basic forecast modeling is the responsibility of this position. This position leads the dialogue each month with key counterparts in Sales and Marketing to provide insights and recommendations to the forecast. Responsibilities include the use of statistical modeling techniques and marketing intelligence data to generate the most accurate statistical demand forecast and monthly reports. Work directly with sales, product development, channel marketing, and cultivation facilities to execute agreed upon demand plan. Produce daily and weekly reports to complete a detailed view of performance and predict future performance. Track and evaluate promotional and run rate trends.
Develops demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation as part of a demand planning function. Review historical sales trends, POS data, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
Continuously improve forecasting techniques, methods and approaches, relating and measuring the impact of forecast accuracy.
Make recommended adjustments to forecast and inventory targets based on changes in demand and market trends and input from Sales and Marketing.
Monitor the demand plan performance, providing detailed input to sales and marketing management for use in the demand consensus review and executive sales and operations planning meetings. Measure and report actual versus planned performance overall, by market channel, sales region, and product family, item, and mix.
Support continuous planning with a 18 period rolling unit and revenue forecast generated by the inputs of market data, industry statistics, marketing dynamics, consensus process, and S&OP process.
Lead monthly business review (OTB) to determine actions that will optimize sales and gross margin.
Develop and provide appropriate business analysis to influence future purchases and assortment strategies.
Drive item planning and forecasting for ordering, allocation and cross-functional need.
Assists in developing new product forecasts as well as run “what if” scenarios as required.
Relates and measures the impact of forecast accuracy on key performance metrics and service levels.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Supply Chain, Operations, statistics or equivalent required
2+ years’ experience in logistics, demand planning/forecasting, supply planning, or supply chain related areas within a manufacturing environment required.
Experience in overall understanding of manufacturing environments and S&OP process required.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills a must.
Must be self-driven and detail and deadline oriented.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel. MS Access skills or aptitude to quickly learn is important.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills; ability to drive consensus.
Strong collaboration abilities, cross-functional relationship building, communication and presentation skills are required.
Ability to handle a heavy workload and be able to work under pressure while handling frequent changes in direction.
